A few observations.
‘yast2 vm-install’ does not work on 11.0. Only vm-install does. Hence it is not possible to do step 3 as I was unable to send-key.
It is advisable to use the Update repo method. Also don’t forget to format the /boot partition as ext2 or ext3(not required as journaling not required on /boot) else you will not be able to mount the ext4 partition in 11.0 with the above method.

It would better to package a patch as 11.2 update.
