Hi thanks for publishing this but :(( T_T it doesnt work with radeonHD 6490m after i install this x wont start no GUI just plain old shell. I have hp pavillion dv6-6096nr with i7 2630qm with sandy bridge. Fglrx used to work with 11.4 on this notebook but with opensuse 12.1 it just wont work. I tried installing with the latest atiupgrade script, tried 1click installer and even manually built and installed it but to no avail. Now im stuck with shitty windows 7, really miss my linux i do all my work there.

I saw requests from people (most of them have a 4280 chipset) and have desktop screen corruption. It’s now reported, and AMD/ATI are working on it to get it fixed soon (perhaps already in December).
Otherwise, use radeon : this one can be debugged and patched.

one click installer (be sure to use the right architecture) is just a convenient way to have the repository installed, and running the first zypper in inside your system.

works well in opensuse 11.4. Just had to enable tear free desktop.

For me, gnome-shell is still unusable. I have Radeon 4200 + Radeon 5650. Nothing changed since 11.10.

I switched to ATI drivers when I saw openSUSE 12.1 with Gnome 3 works. And yeas, it ‘mostly’ works. However there are still bugs which proves Gnome 3 unusable sometimes, and most likely I’ll just have to switch back to opensource radeon drivers. Opera and Pidgin are completely unusable, however, rest of the shell just works fine most of the time. At least, this is a huge improvement since last version, where it was completely broken.

So, if I use one click installer, will my system be able to use my dedicated graphic card (ATI one), without those bugs? Or do I need to use make file?
