I am happy to announce that the universal Go-oo 3.2.1 build is available for Linux (i586, x86_64), MAC OSX Intel, and Windows. See also download and installation instructions. The builds include many upstream and Go-oo fixes.
Go-oo team hopes that you will be happy with this release. Though, any software contains bugs and we kindly ask you to report them, so that we could fix them in the future releases. Also you could send feedback to the ooo-build@lists.freedesktop.org mailing list or contact us on irc.freenode.net, channel #go-oo.

PS: I feel a bit schizophrenic. I want to blog about the openSUSE builds at planetsuse and about the universal build at planet.go-oo. Both builds are based on the same sources, so the schedule is almost the same. We only do more alpha and beta builds for openSUSE because it is so easy with the Build Service.

Universidad Latina, Facultad de Ingeniería. “LibreSoft”. July 1st., 2010 from 6:00 p.m. To 10:30 p.m. (- 5 EST) several FOSS individual representatives held a meeting on 3rd floor of the main building, gave some talks about FOSS, software developments, open source, licensing, sharing code, community contributions, and applications to the general public, Telecommunications and Industrial Engineering students, professors, dean and lawyers. OpenSUSE Ambassador, Ricardo Chung, shared the space with Diego Tejera (Ubuntu LoCo Team), Alejandro Perez ( Fedora Ambassador ), Abdel Martinez ( Fedora Campus Ambassador), Adrien Scott ( www.fosdev.com) and others. Ricardo gave a talk about openSUSE 11.2 features and some sneak preview features on openSUSE 11.3 ( http://en.opensuse.org/Product_highlights_11.3), the openSUSE Build Service 2.0 ( http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service) as software development and colaboration platform useful for any Linux distribution, SUSE Studio to customize our distribution on different enviroments, and KIWI to make an operating system image available on physical media ( http://en.opensuse.org/Kiwi ). Ricardo also, answer some questions about openSUSE community and local users group, installation, as well as some questions about Novell and Microsoft alliances were clarified. After the talk an openSUSE and Novell trivia was given and the winners got some openSUSE 11.2 CDs with Gnome Desktop by default.

I’m happy to announce updated OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 packages for openSUSE. They are available in the Build Service OpenOffice:org:STABLE project and provide some useful fixes. The most critical one is the crash in non-Oxygen KDE4 themes that affects openSUSE-11.3 and Factory KDE4 users. Please, check also the older announce for more details about OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 release.
The openSUSE OOo team hopes that you will appreciate this update. We kindly ask you to report any other bugs so that we could fixed them in the future releases.

I’m happy to announce OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 final packages for openSUSE. They are available in the Build Service OpenOffice:org:STABLE project and include many upstream and Go-oo improvements and fixes. Please, check the wiki page for more details about the openSUSE OOo build.
The openSUSE OOo team hopes that you will be happy with this release. Though, any software contains bugs and we kindly ask you to report them, so that we could fixed them in the future releases.
Other information and plans:
We are already working on the 3.3 release. I would like to put the first alpha build into the OpenOffice:org:UNSTABLE project within next couple of weeks.

I’m happy to announce OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 rc3 packages for openSUSE. They are available in the Build Service OpenOffice:org:UNSTABLE project, are based on the upstream 3.2.1-rc2 sources and include many Go-oo fixes and improvements. Please, look for more details about the openSUSE OOo build on the wiki page.
The packages are release candidates and have not passed full QA cycle yet. They might include even serious bugs. Therefore they are not intended for data-critical usage. A good practice is to archive any important data before an use, …
As usual, we kindly ask any interested beta testers to try the package and report bugs. See also the list of known bugs.
Other information and plans:
The corresponding upstream build passed QA and will most like go out by the end of the week. We are still testing the builds for openSUSE. No blocker has been found so far. If nothing happens, we would like to make it available in the OpenOffice:org:STABLE project by the end of the week as well.

The package does not build in Factory because of the bug bnc#604251. I hope that it will get fixed soon.
The bug i#111636 has been considered as a blocker, so you might expect rc2 the following week.

On May 3, 2010 the openSUSE Ambassador was invited to talk about “Introducción a las características y ventajas de openSUSE, su relación con NOVELL y la comunidad de usuarios” (“An Introduction to New Features and Advantages on openSUSE 11.2, the openSUSE Project Community and the relationship with NOVELL”). When I did talk about openSUSE. People came from a few persons in the room to suddenly filling the whole space available for that room. Surprisingly, I had the opportunity to watch several girls between the audience so I thought there is a chance to organize a chix open source community or users group. FLISoL 2010 at Ciudad del Saber looked good with several Linux Distributions and different open source applications. It was a small building with a lot people in transit. With three people and only two months to organize this event it was a successful achievement because our goal was accomplished: be on the eyes of governmental organizations, ONG, business, academics, students, users, professionals. Some media communications groups give some interviews. After this event we are receiving more invitations to give a talks for education and participate on some projects than ever before. We are sorry for the delay but this beta was quite problematic. We would like to prepare another build two weeks from now. We hope that it will be rc1 but it depends on upstream. The final release should happen by the end of April or in the beginning of June.
