OpenOffice_org 3.0.1 beta1 available

December 15th, 2008 by

I’m happy to announce that OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 beta1 packages are available in the Build Service OpenOffice:org:UNSTABLE project.

The packages are still beta versions and might include even serious bugs. Therefore they are not intended for data-critical usage. A good practice is to archive any important data before an use, …

We kindly ask any interested beta testers to try the package and report bugs.

Other information and plans:

I have also updated the packages in the OpenOffice:org:STABLE project to the version 3.0.0.3.6. It fixes some annoying problems that were included in the OOo-3.0 final version. It would have made sense to put there the 3.0.0.9 version from openSUSE-11.1 but it was not tested on older distributions in the UNSTBALE project, so I rather used the more conservative 3.0.0.3.x branch. In each case, it will get replaced with OOo-3.0.1 final version once it is ready. It should happen in the middle of January.

The OpenOffice:org:UNSTABLE project is currently used for the OOo-3.0.1 beta testing. I’ll put there OOo-3.1-alpha after we move the OOo-3.0.1 final version to the STABLE project.

I am sorry that the OOo-3.0.0.x versions were not available for older distribution in the UNSTABLE project. I was very overloaded last weeks/months and did not have time to update the Build Service project.

I do not plan any other updates in December. I am going to take some time off to be fresh and ready to prepare new builds for you in 2009.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

OpenOffice_org 3.0 final available

October 30th, 2008 by

I’m happy to announce that the build 3.0.0.3.5 passed testing and OpenOffice.org 3.0 final packages are available in the Build Service OpenOffice:org:STABLE project.

Note that OOo is very complex application. We are sure that some annoying bugs will be found within the following weeks. Please report bugs into bugzilla. See also known bugs below. I would like to update the package once again within next two weeks with some important fixes that will be available in the meantime.

Note: openSUSE-11.1-betaX and FACTORY include totaly reworked packages where the build is split into many source packages. It is a bit broken right now. We would like to put it into the Build Service as soon as possible but it will take some time to fix the build on older distributions again. Please be patient.

openSUSE 11.0 Beta 3 Testing

May 19th, 2008 by

openSUSE 11.0 Beta 3 already available on factory repos since May 15 2008 (in Indonesia, GMT+7) and has announced on May 16, 2008, but I can’t directly tried it because one of my programmer staff has resigned last week, so, I must covering up his work for a while and I can’t go for an install fest 🙂 . I’ve finished downloading the iso-both kde live and the i386 dvd iso-on Friday, with standard downloading from mirror on ftp5.gwdg.de.

I tried beta 3 on Satuday, and having a problem while running KDE LiveCD. The LiveCD failed run with an error exception : “Failed mounting Read Only File System”. I think it was a problem with my testing computer, so I take another machine which ended with same result.

I think I would like to post the error on mailing list but I decided to wait an installation testing with DVD iso. on Beta 1 I’ve an issue with LiveCD installation but the DVD iso is worked without problem, so I think it would rather LiveCD problem than beta 3 problem in general.
